Ecolite CK is a strong acidic cation exchange resin developed by Ecosoft for use in domestic, commercial and industrial water softening systems and boiler water treatment.
This resin has a high exchange capacity which provides excellent performance and the ability to effectively remove hardness salts. The material is physically, chemically and thermally stable.
How does it work
In the process of filtering the water through a cation exchange hardness ions Ca2+ and Mg2+ are replaced by Na+ ions.
Replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions guarantees that scale will not form on the heating surfaces of boilers and heat exchangers. As the water passes through the cation exchange layer, the amount of exchangeable sodium ions decreases and the amount of calcium and magnesium ions retained on the resin increases. After that it should be regenerated – omit the sodium chloride substance through the cation exchange layer to restore the cation exchange capacity.
During the regeneration calcium and magnesium ions are flushed down the drain and the cation exchanger is saturated with sodium ions from the brine.
