What are water softeners?
Water softeners use salt to flush resins that act as a filter against salts. Any other device that does not use salt for regeneration is not called a water softener, but rather a conditioner, which has very low efficiency, especially in areas with hard water.
Water softeners remove salts from water, primarily by exchanging magnesium ions Mg2+ and calcium Ca2+ by ion exchange for sodium chloride (NaCl). In this way, the water softens (removes salts) so that residual white spots do not form on various surfaces, devices and accessories, plumbing pipes, while tanks and machines that work with water always remain clean.
